Funding for Watershed

The Watershed is to receive €58,000 from government under new funding confirmed for sports and recreational facilities nationwide, Fine Gael TD John Paul Phelan has confirmed.

The Watershed is to receive €58,000 from government under new funding confirmed for sports and recreational facilities nationwide, Fine Gael TD John Paul Phelan has confirmed.

The announcement is due to be confirmed by Minister Michael Ring in the coming weeks, according to Deputy Phelan.

“This money comes as part of substantial funds to Local Authorities to provide sports and

recreational facilities across the country and will be used to finance gym equipment at The Watershed. It is an incredible amenity, providing indoor and outdoor facilities to rival any in the country. Countless schools use it for swimming and other sports and it has helped to further foster and grow our great sporting culture in Kilkenny,” Deputy Phelan said.

The Department of Sport, in partnership with Irish Public Bodies (IPB) and Local Authorities created a €3m fund to create and enhance sport and recreational facilities in each Local Authority areas.
