Miles for Smiles, a brand new non-profit organisation will be catching your attention over the coming weeks. Jane McDonough, a resident of Thomastown will be walking 100 miles with her two rescue huskies, Maska & Rio across this August Bank Holiday Weekend in order to raise badly needed funds for five animal rescue shelters in Leinster.
Jane’s epic journey will begin on Friday in Thomastown and over the next Four days her route will see her, Maska & Rio walk across Kilkenny, Wexford and Carlow before finishing back in Thomastown on the evening of Monday 4th Wexford.
The Five shelters to beneficiate from Jane’s venture will be Kilkenny Cats and Animal Rescue, Carlow SPCA, Inistioge Puppy Rescue, Pet Helpers & Dog Rescue Coolronan. All Five shelters do monumental work within their respective communities but remain drastically short of funds. All the proceeds raised through Miles for Smiles will go towards helping these 5 shelters.
Miles for Smiles has already attracted a huge following with over 1300 followers on our Social Media platforms. Miles for Smiles is proudly sponsored by Connolly’s Red Mills and Maxi Zoo Ireland both of whom have provided huge levels of support to the Miles for Smiles venture. Jane will be covering 25 miles a day across the Four days of August Bank Holiday weekend and will be joined on the walk by friends & family at various stages over the course of the 4 days. A Canine Emergency First Responder will be on standby at all times to ensure that Maska and Rio are in the best of health all weekend.
