Speed limit changes planned on some county roads

Changes to the speed limit at certain locations in the county are being proposed by Kilkenny County Council.

Changes to the speed limit at certain locations in the county are being proposed by Kilkenny County Council.

The proposed changes include:

• introduction of 50kph speed limits at Tullahought and Castlewarren

• an increase from 60kph to 80kph at Grannagh Mini-Roundabout to Newrath Roundabout (R448), from the Newrath Roundabout to Sallypark (R448) and extending the 80kph to the junction with the Old New Ross Road (R711)

• extending the existing 30kph, 50kph and/or 60kph speed limits at Tullaroan, Windgap, The Rower, Paulstown, Gowran, Graignamanagh and Thomastown

• a special speed limit of 60kph on the Kells Road (R697) at Evergreen Football Club, with the speed limit being applicable when the signs are illuminated

The proposed changes to the speed limit by-laws were outlined at this month’s council meeting and are now going on public display.
