Kilkenny Education Centre, in partnership with the Heritage Office of Kilkenny County Council, is running an evening course for primary-school teachers on March 13.
Entitled “Explore the Nore,” it will take place from 7-9pm on the night.
“We are very excited about this course and intend that it will provide ideas for teachers on how to use a poster on the heritage of the River Nore to teach about heritage buildings, wildlife, habitats and local history along this section of the river Nore,” said heritage officer Dearbhala Ledwidge.
The poster, which illustrates the built, natural and cultural heritage resources along the northern section of the River Nore from the Laois county boundary to Kilkenny City, is part of a wider heritage audit of the River Nore undertaken by the Heritage Office of Kilkenny County Council. The poster was distributed to all primary and post-primary schools in January.
