THE MAYOR of Kilkenny David Fitzgerald has confirmed a date for the public meeting to be held to discuss the future of the St Francis Abbey Brewery site.

The meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 30 at 7.30pm in City Hall. All members of the public are invited to come and voice their thoughts on how the site should be developed.

Mayor Fitzgerald and county manager Joe Crockett will both speak at the meeting, after which the floor will be opened. The mayor has said that discussions at the town hall meeting will not be limited just to the brewery site, extending to the City Development Plan as a whole.

Earlier this month, Kilkenny local authorities voted unanimously to purchase the brewery site for €2.1 million from Diageo, when operations cease there in December 2013.
