‘First Arts’ added at NUI Maynooth’s Kilkenny campus

The Kilkenny campus of NUI Maynooth presented an information session on its new First Arts programme yesterday (Tuesday).

The Kilkenny campus of NUI Maynooth presented an information session on its new First Arts programme yesterday (Tuesday).

With this development, students from Kilkenny and the surrounding area can take the first year of the Bachelor of Arts from NUI Maynooth at the Kilkenny campus, progressing on to second and third year in Maynooth. First Arts in the Kilkenny campus is offered through the CAO (Code: MH901) for entry in September 2013.

Dr John McGinnity, assistant registrar and admissions officer at NUI Maynooth, said he was delighted with the new departure for the university which he hoped would be of great benefit for students from the region interested in studying arts at NUI Maynooth.

He said that having the opportunity to study locally for the first year would make a difference in terms of being close to home and making cost savings, while those coming from outside the region would get the opportunity to study in a vibrant city with a rich cultural, sporting and heritage background.
