KILKENNY’s hurlers and supporters will be shown on the small screen this evening (Friday) as host Síle Ní Bhraonáin accompanies the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Champions as they once again meet and greet their supporters on their triumphant return to their home county.
Féilte 2012 will bring us highlights of Sunday’s exciting encounter, analysis and opinions from players and supporters, the homecoming celebrations and the best of Kilkenny traditional music.
In Carroll’s Hotel in Knocktopher, Paddy Cleere and friends Mick Foley, Liam Moore and Tommy Lannigan, will entertain supporters and members of the legendary Ballyhale Shamrocks GAA Club - the most successful club in the history of the All-Ireland Senior Club Hurling Championship, and home to numerous Kilkenny hurling stars, including nine times All-Ireland winner “King” Henry Shefflin.
A Comhaltas group from Mullinavat, led by Willie Delaney and including Martin Coughlan, Fiona Donnelly Delaney and John Burke, will also regale the enthusiastic audience with some fine tunes. And local dancer Suzanne Rowe will treat us to a fine sean-nós performance, accompanied by Willie Delaney’s Comhaltas group.
Síle Ní Bhraonáin will also talk to members of the Kilkenny team and their most loyal supporters, including James Stephens GAA Club player, Tomás Ó Dúbhda, who will give us his considered opinion of the Cats’ victory. Feilte 2012 will capture the unique atmosphere of the celebrations, speeches, music and banter which all form the backdrop to this great sporting occasion - the bringing home to Kilkenny yet again of the Liam McCarthy Cup!
Síle Ní Bhraonáin and all the crew are looking forward to bringing you all the spectacle, excitement and music of the Homecoming in Féilte 2012. The programme will be aired this evening (Friday) at 7:30 pm on TG4 and online at www.tg4.ie. Bí Linn!
