Kilkenny County Council is to urgently progress works on designs, costings and schedules for the second phase of the controversial Central Access Scheme.

Phase two refers to a section of the scheme from the the road at Kilcreene to the Butts roundabout. The link road may alleviate some of the traffic management concerns of residents in the Kennyswell Road area.

The motion was seconded by Cllr Mary Hilda Cavanagh.

County manager Joe Crockett said he would produce the relevant paperwork for the Department of the Environment without delay.
