The enterprising young people of the Foróige DRUM Youth Centre recently had a little helping hand from Taxback.com.
The Kilkenny-based company donated €1,000 to the group as part of the company’s global CSR initiative, which aims to make a difference to young people in the communities. The donation financed a mural project along the recently-renovated Lacken Walk during the summer.
The money was used to hire an art facilitator with experience of working with young people. As the theme of the project was positive mental health, the young people involved were encouraged to think about and discuss what this means to them. They then researched images, wording and symbols to use as part of the artwork and they hope the bright colours and images used will bring a smile to people’s faces when they view it.
The Foróige DRUM Youth Centre is for young people of second level education age. For information on how to get involved please contact Kate Carroll on 086-7736975 or Melissa Faulkner 086-7736976, visit www.facebook.com/drumyouthcenter or follow us on twitter @drumyouthcentre.
