Skate park design to proceed ‘shortly’

THE tenders process for a detailed design of a park including skateboarding facilities in the city is due to proceed shortly, according to a Kilkenny Borough Council official.

THE tenders process for a detailed design of a park including skateboarding facilities in the city is due to proceed shortly, according to a Kilkenny Borough Council official.

At Monday night’s council meeting, Cllr Betty Manning (FG) asked about progress on the park which is due to be built in the Closh area of the city. “It was agreed that we would go ahead with it in the Closh,” she pointed out.

Director of services John Mulholland said the council had looked around the country for similar models rather than starting from scratch, and that a brief has been drafted to engage designers with specific knowledge of such parks. “We will be proceeding to tenders shortly,” he said.
