The body of missing Kilkenny city man, Derek Tyrell has been located.
His remains were taken from the River Nore at Thomastown this morning, just before noon. The 33-year-old was located just south (downstream of the bridge in the town not far from where he accidentally slipped into the river at 1.30am on Sunday morning while returning from a night out with friends.
There were up to 50 people on the riverside when the news came through with the garda helicopter and specialist diving unit, search and rescue services, Kilkenny Sub Aqua Club, Kilkenny Civil Defence, volunteers from various GAA clubs as well as family and friends and others involved.
In accordance with protocol, his remains are being brought to Waterford Regional Hospital (WRH) for a post-mortem examination.
