Search for missing Kilkenny city man in Thomastown has resumed

Kilkenny Sub Aqua Club, The Civil Defence and a large group of volunteers have resumed searching for a popular 33-year-old Kilkenny city man, who slipped into the River Nore in Thomastown after a night out.

Kilkenny Sub Aqua Club, The Civil Defence and a large group of volunteers have resumed searching for a popular 33-year-old Kilkenny city man, who slipped into the River Nore in Thomastown after a night out.

The man was with friends near an apartment complex off Mill Street, adjacent to the river, when he accidentally fell in at around 1.30am on Sunday morning.

His friends immediately raised the alarm and a huge search was triggered.

Within an hour, the Coastguard helicopter based in Tramore was scrambled and manned with infra red and heat seeking capabilities, it was hoped it would pick up images of the man. Recovery has been hampered by the swollen river and debris.
