A BLATANT example of illegally dumped household waste has been highlighted by Cllr Joe Malone (FF).
Several picturesque spots along the Bleech Road on the outskirts of Kilkenny city have recently fallen victim to illegal dumping – despite being just minutes away from Dunmore waste and amenity centre.
One of the piles of rubbish contained discarded children’s toys, pairs of shoes, remnants of a Halloween costume, videos and even a jar of paint, a toxic mixture left in open water on a road prone to flooding.
“It has to be tracked down and investigated,” said Cllr Malone, who reported it to the council’s environment section. “This is a lovely scenic road beside the river and we don’t want any pollution in our rivers.”
“It has to be highlighted, and people have to be more vigilant,” he said.
