THERE was heated debate over the contentious plans to build a skatepark at The Closh at Gaol Road at a meeting held in the Town Hall yesterday (Tuesday) evening.

Mayor David Fitzgerald told The Kilkenny People that there is broad acceptance that there is a need for a skatepark in the city and a need to develop The Closh but added that there were some residents who were not in support of it.

“It is a contentious issue and it is highly emotive and people feel strongly about it,” addeed the Mayor.
