Remembering Paiche eight years on

July marks eight years since the body of Paiche Unyolo, a mother of two and daughter of the Chief Justice in Malawi, was discovered at Brenor Bridge, Piltown.

It is believed that the deceased was working as a prostitue at the time of her death and had a number of clients in the South Kilkenny area. As yet, nobody has been brought to justice. Two local women out walking discovered her severed body.

No one has been charged in relation to the killing which took place in 2004 when her headless body was found wrapped in plastic.

Mrs Onyemaechi disappeared from her St Herblain Park’s home, Waterford City Centre, three weeks before her dismembered body was found wrapped in a plastic bag near a stream in Brenor Bridge, Piltown.

Her husband and father of their two sons, an Igbo from Nigeria, Mr. Chika Onyemaechi, disappeared in the week following the discovery of his wife’s dissected body and has since never been seen.
