Ignore the distinctive name – a Kilkenny man by the name of John Lennon is being sought by an old friend, who wishes to establish contact after decades apart.
John Lennon moved from his Kilkenny home to California in 1957. He served in the United States Air Force betwen 1960 and 1964.
Around this time, a man called Richard Falkenstein was Mr Lennon’s room mate, and the two became good friends. In 1961, Mr Falkenstein even visited Kilkenny and stayed with his friend during his holiday.
However, the men somehow lost contact at some point during the 1980s, and Mr Falkenstein is now searching for his old friend, who he believes may be back in his native county.
Mr Falkenstein has now once again returned to visit Kilkenny – he will be here from this Sunday, September 16-19 – and would dearly love to hear from John Lennon, or anyone who knows of him. He will be staying in the Auburndale bed and breakfast during his time in Kilkenny.
