One in four in Kilkenny have third level education

LATEST figures from the Central Statistics Office shows that one in four Kilkenny adults - 27% to be exact - have third level education which does not compare favourably with the national average of 31%.

LATEST figures from the Central Statistics Office shows that one in four Kilkenny adults - 27% to be exact - have third level education which does not compare favourably with the national average of 31%.

And the ladies fair better - with 18% of men concluding their education with third level degrees compared to 26% of women.

Of the total number of graduates (13,315), almost 8,000 of them are women.

There are also 183 people in Kilkenny with a Doctorate (PHD) up to April 2011.

And the top degrees are in social sciences, business and law.
