A NEW area president for the local Society of St Vincent de Paul has been named. Kevin Donohoe has taken over the reins as successor to Liam Heffernan.
His main concern, Mr Donohoe said, “is that we give a good service to the many people that we serve who are in trouble.”
“Unfortunately, they are not diminishing, they are increasing in the present economic climate,” he said.
His hope is also to increase the number of volunteers, particularly younger volunteers; and anyone interested in joining can contact a local branch.
A Roscommon native, Mr Donohoe has been involved with the Kilkenny Vincent de Paul for the past 15 years, having also worked for three years with the Waterford service.
