Following public concern from rumoured reductions in the continued provision of out-patient day centre services attached to St Columba’s Hospital in Thomastown, Cllr Michael O’Brien says he has received assurances from HSE area manager.
The November 7 closure was necessary “to accommodate the setting up of a new dedicated memory clinic for the Kilkenny area. The day centre will not be affected by the memory clinic operation after the set-up date of November 7,” according to the HSE.
The day centre will also be closed on November 28 “to allow patients and staff to mark the retirement of Dr Paul Magnier after almost 35 years of service to the hospital.”
