The deadline for applications to avail of money for safeguarding protected structures has been extended by Kilkenny local authorities, following an allocation of funding from the Department Of Arts, Heritage And The Gaeltacht.

A limited national fund of €475,000 is available for urgent works required to protected structures. Only structures in immediate danger of significant deterioration will qualify for consideration for funds.

The local authority has extended the deadline for applications, which must be submitted to Kilkenny County Council by 12pm on Wednesday, April 17. Application forms and details of the scheme can be obtained at the Planning Section, Kilkenny County Council or downloaded from www.kilkennycoco.ie.
