Having recently sold a number of high profile parcels of land in the Kilkenny/Carlow area Ed Donohoe of Donohoe Properties produced another record sale price on Friday when Circa 23.5 acres at Bennettsbridge, Co. Kilkenny sold for the record price of €430,000 (€18,300 per acre) . This is an exceptional price for land of this quality. The land which is high quality agricultural land, with some road frontage, is located half a mile from Bennettsbridge and within close proximity to Kilkenny City, is currently laid out in grass and is renowned for its fattening qualities
The auction was very well attended achieved an opening bid, which exceeded the guide price, which was (€12,000 per acre) €300,000. The land was put on the market at €380,000 and after seven more bids the hammer came down at €430,00 to a farmer who has land in the area. Ed Donohoe said “The bidding was brisk and it just goes to show that there is a huge demand for good quality land in the right area”. Donohoe Properties were also the agent for another parcel of land (20 acres) at Brownstown, Kilkenny which sold for the guide price of €10,000 per acre the previous Friday.
