The Irish Civil War is still going on in Kilkenny, it would appear. The evidence comes from the fact that a number of large posters promoting the upcoming production of Michael Collins - The Musical in the Watergate Theatre, have been vandalised in the last number of days.
Someone has sawed off the image of Michael Collins from each of the four big corrugated plastic sign which are located on the Freshford Road, Dublin Road, Callan Road and Bennettsbridge Road.
Chairman of Kilkenny Musical Society, Seamus Reade is very upset at suggestions that the posters were cut by the society to promote the musical that opens in a week’s time.
“Nothing could be further from the truth. These posters cost a considerable amount of money to make and we want to know who destroyed them,” Mr Reade said. “It is a sad day when the image of one of our great, national heroes is treated in such a manner,” he added. Harrelson
