HMV has come on board as the main sponsor of Light Colour Sound, the new music festival being held at Shanhill Castle in Paulstown this July.
This eclectic festival has already created a stir in the music scene both locally and nationally and boasts one of the best line ups of the summer.
The event follows on from the small festival at the Barn on the Farm in Kilmoganny last summer. This year the organisers decided to go a little bigger and a whole lot better with a brand new venue this year.
Organically grown from a small gathering of music lovers, Light Colour Sound will host two full days and nights of music in the castle grounds and all for a good, local cause.
The festival is raising money for the Steiner School in Callan.
Light Colour Sound boasts an incredible line up which includes international artists and a host of the best and most seasoned Irish artists and an interesting and diverse spoken word stage.
HMV will sponsor the Main Stage at the festival, which will feature performances by international and Irish acts including Dan le Sac vs Scroobuis Pip, And So I Watch You From Afar, Cathy Davey, Jerry Fish, Wallis Bird, Jape, O Emperor, R.S.A.G., Engine Alley, Minutes, Kila, Raglans, The Barley Mob, I Draw Slow, and Halves.
In addition, a pop-up HMV shop will be on site throughout the festival, where fans can purchase music by all of the performers at the festival.
To celebrate the sponsorship, HMV held the official Light Colour Sound launch event in HMV Grafton Street last Saturday with live performances from The Young Folk and The Barley Mob, both of whom will perform live on the HMV Stage at Light Colour Sound.
Light Colour Sound is the newest Irish summer festival and boasts three days of music, food, art, culture, literature, comedy, open forums, workshops and dance.
Commenting on the announcement, Chris Keena, HMV’s Head of Music said: “HMV’s sponsorship of Light Colour Sound reinforces our commitment to live Irish music. Light Colour Sound promises to be a fantastic addition to the Irish summer festival calendar. We are proud to sponsor the event and bring HMV Retail to the Festival, giving our customers a chance to purchase albums by the bands on the bill.”
The festival will take place on July 5 and 6.
