Local students reportedly had a good start to things this morning as they began their State exams.
Both Leaving Certificate and Junior Certificate students received their first paper, English Paper I, at 9.30am. Junior Cert students sat the second English paper this afternoon, while Leaving Cert students finish theirs tomorrow, with Home Economics taking place this afternoon.
Local schools have said that by and large, the reaction to the exam papers was positive.
“Without a shadow of a doubt, I would say that both Junior and Leaving Certs were ‘student-friendly’,” said Mary Ryan, deputy principal of Presentation Kilkenny.
“They came out all smiles, and there was no one distressed. It’s positive, because it settles [them] down on day one.”
Over 1,000 students across the city and county are sitting exams this year.
