Presidential hopefuls canvass in city

THERE will be plenty of colour in the city this afternoon when two presidential hopefuls arrive in the city in a last dash to gain support before Thursday election.

THERE will be plenty of colour in the city this afternoon when two presidential hopefuls arrive in the city in a last dash to gain support before Thursday election.

Labour’s Michael D Higgins is due to arrive in the centre shortly after 5pm where he will meet and greet locals.

Meanwhile Mary Davis is attending the Women and Agriculture Conference which takes place at the Lyrath Hotel.

Independent candidate Sean Gallagher had planned a visit to Kilkenny city today to meet with supporters at 3.30pm (Tuesday). At the last minute Mr Gallagher’s PR team cancelled the meet and greet. A spokesperson for the Gallagher campaign said “ We ran badly over with some pre-planned interviews today and very reluctantly had to cancel.”
