Two armed raids were carried out within half an hour of each other in South Kilkenny on Sunday night.
One incident occurred at Mundy’s Daybreak in Piltown around 8.20pm on Sunday, and another 20 minutes later at Redbridge Service Station just on the Kilkenny side of Waterford.
In both cases, the raids were carried out by two males with a gun and a crowbar.
In the first incident, the two raiders threatened the staff at Mundy’s Daybreak but no injuries were sustained in the incident, according to gardaí. The raiders did escape with a large sum of cash, however.
Around 20 minutes later, a raid on the Redbridge Service Station outside Waterford was carried out in a similar fashion. This, too, was carried out by two males with a gun and a crowbar.
Gardaí are conducting a number of searches in the area and are following a couple of lines in inquiry.
