Firefighters at oil depot blaze

FIREFIGHTERS are at the scene of a blaze at an oil depot on close to Kilmacow.

FIREFIGHTERS are at the scene of a blaze at an oil depot on close to Kilmacow.

Motorists have been advised to avoid Kilmacow this afternoon due to a fire at an oil depot in the area.

The fire was discovered shortly before midday at the depot on the R448 Kilmacow to Waterford road.

Gardaí are asking local motorists to avoid the area and have also urged motorist on the Dublin to Cork motorway not to exit at the Mullinavat exit. Local diversions are in place. Emergency services, including the fire service are at the scene and are attempting to bring the blaze under control.

Train passengers have also been affected by the fire with Iarnrod Éireann suspending services between Kilkenny and Waterford. Bus transfers are in place.
