October 22 is the deadline for members of the public to make submissions in the second round of consultation for EirGrid’s Grid Link Project.
EirGrid is seeking comment on the Constraints Report and feedback on how corridors should be development for the project. All feedback for this stage must be received by 5pm on October 22. The Constraints Report and maps are available online and at EirGrid’s information offices, County Council Offices and county libraries in the study area.
To ensure future electrical power needs are met in the south and east of Ireland, an estimated €500 million is being invested in the Grid Link Project, which consists of a new high-voltage power line linking Leinster and Munster. The aim of the Grid Link Project is to help secure future electricity supply, empower growth in the south and east of Ireland and enable Ireland to meet its target of having 40% renewable electricity.

Grid Link Project Information Centres are open in Midleton every Monday, Carrick-on-Suir every Tuesday, New Ross every Wednesday and Carlow every Thursday, from noon to 6pm in each venue.
