Career Fair helps break down barriers to employment

Access Supported Employment hosted its third Careers Fair in the Orchard Suite in Hotel Kilkenny on October 2.

Access Supported Employment hosted its third Careers Fair in the Orchard Suite in Hotel Kilkenny on October 2.

The event was supported by many local employers and professionals including Kilkenny Fire Service, An Garda Síochána, Glanbia Innovation Centre, McDonald’s, Boston Belle, Lilac Lodge, Loughboy library, Foroige Kilkenny County Childcare Committee, Mayor Seán Ó hArgáin, Michael O’Martin, the Office of Public Works, KBowl, Aspect Hotel and many others.

Students from local secondary schools including Presentation Secondary School, School of the Holy Spirit and Mother of Fair Love joined participants from Access Supported Employment and SOS Kilkenny Ltd on the day as well as students in other services around Kilkenny. The event gave attendees an insight into the options available to them in the world of work.

Access Supported Employment service is operated under the direction of SOS Kilkenny Limited and seeks to assist people with disabilities to overcome barriers in the workplace to achieve their personal goal of paid independent employment.
