PEOPLE are asked to come out and support the Magalene survivors at two special events which will be held in the city tomorrow.

A Book of Apologies from local people will be presented to Maureen Sullivan, representing the Magdalene Survivors Together group on Friday by Cllr Marie Fitzpatrick, Cathaoirleach at the Council Chambers at 11.30am.

The front of the book reads “We the people of Kilkenny City and County are sorry for what happened to the Magdalene women and children”

Signatures were collected during events in Kilkenny around March 8 to mark International Women’s Day with the

Mayor and Cathaoirleach being the first to sign followed by other councillors.

People will then gather at the Parade at 1.45pm to walk to the Memorial for Missing Persons in the Castle Park where there will be a short Remembrance event for all the unacknowledged women and children led by Maureen and Elinor Mountain from Kilkenny Womens Day Committee.
