The chairman of Kilkenny’s Joint Policing Committee is to host a public forum on crime tomorrow evening (Wednesday).
Councillor Patrick McKee is inviting members of the public to attend the event, which is titled ‘Tackling Crime in Our Communities – A Public Forum’. It will give local people an opportunity to discuss their experiences of crime and other issues in Kilkenny.
“This public forum will give people an opportunity to highlight their experiences of criminality in our city and county and importantly, consider what can be done through joined up thinking between An Gardai Siochana, the community and the local authority,” said Cllr McKee, who is the General Election candidate for Renua Ireland.
“All views and ideas will be compiled and presented to both the Joint Policing Committee and An Garda Siochana for full consideration in terms of the delivery of community policing strategy.
“I believe a critical element to effective policing is community input and I have at all times ensured the voices of our communities are heard at the highest levels of An Garda Siochana in the county.”
The forum takes place tomorrow (August 26) at 7.30pm in the Pembroke Hotel.
