Funding of €504,749 for Kilkenny Sports Partnerships has been warmly welcomed by Fianna Fáil TD for Carlow/Kilkenny, Peter 'Chap' Cleere and the wider sports community locally.
The allocation is part of a €12 million package that will be shared among the country's 29 Local Sports Partnerships and is part of an overall investment of over €30 million from government announced by Fianna Fáil Minister of State with responsibility for Sport and Postal Policy, Charlie McConalogue.
The investment funds the day-to-day running of sports bodies and delivers on commitments set out in the National Sports Policy 2018-2027, the National Physical Activity Plan and the Programme for Government.
"This funding represents a significant investment in an organisation that does such great work throughout our county," Deputy Cleere said.
"This allocation will help to ensure that the tremendous work being done by the teams at Carlow and Kilkenny Sports Partnership continues throughout our local communities.

"This investment will support the staff to establish and promote the delivery of sport and physical activity opportunities with continued strong programme funding, promotional budgets and community and development funds," he added.
"This latest allocation of funding will also help to maximise the impact of the partnership’s resources, while building partnerships and capacity through local community sport and physical activity investment," the local TD concluded.
