Kilkenny and Threecastles native Richie Dalton recently traveled home from Australia to take part in the Clare Stages Rally and also last weekends Wexford Volkswagen Stages Rally.
The Wexfird competition was based out of Wexford town taking in 18 special stages over two days on a surface that Dalton has not competed on before having been more used to driving on loose surface events in Australia.
It was a tough challenge but he acquainted himself well with the new car and assistance of the very experienced navigator Martin Brady and the challenging conditions to finish a very credible 18th spot overall.
It was a very strong field which included the current Irish National Rally Champion and a few former champions plus a lot of seasoned competitors so credit to the Kilkennyman on a good effort.
