'Incredibly proud' - Kilkenny athlete recognised after year of remarkable success

Kilkenny County Council hosted a Civic Reception to celebrate and acknowledge the outstanding achievements of Galmoy athlete Katie Bergin at their Plenary Meeting on Monday.

The event, attended by elected members and distinguished guests, highlighted Katie’s remarkable success over the past year. A rising sprint star from North Kilkenny, Katie has secured national titles in the 60m, 100m, and 200m firmly establishing herself as a promising young athlete.

Speaking at the reception, Cathaoirleach Cllr Mary Hilda Cavanagh, praised Katie stating: "We are incredibly proud of Katie's success and hard work and the huge progress she’s made in such a short time."

Now based in Cork for her studies, Katie continues to train alongside some of Ireland’s leading coaches and athletes. With her impressive track record and unwavering commitment, she is widely regarded as an athlete with big ambitions and an even bigger future.

Kilkenny County Council extends its warm congratulations to Katie and wishes her continued success in the years ahead.
