Daniel Burke, a 26-year-old Finance Professional from Ballyouskill, Co Kilkenny, has officially declared his candidacy for the Castlecomer Local Electoral Area (LEA) as a member of the 'Independent Ireland' Party in the upcoming Local Elections in June.
Burke holds an Masters in Finance and Risk Management having attended the University of West London and Waterford IT where he also attained a Degree in Law and Business.
The election hopeful highlighted the migrant crisis, healthcare crisis, housing crisis, and the 'neglect' faced by farmers and rural communities as 'motivation' to enter politics.
"In observing the failures of our government over the years and the lack of consistent representation in our area, I felt compelled to take action," Mr Burke said.
"It's unacceptable for some politicians to only appear when seeking votes every few years, leaving our concerns unaddressed," he commented, adding, "I firmly believe that our community deserves a new, energetic voice that prioritises their interests and engages with them regularly."
