Independent Ireland local election candidate for the Castlecomer Local Electoral Area, Daniel Burke has described the lack of a pedestrian crossing by Ballyragget National School as 'an accident waiting to happen.'

The local school is separated from the heavily populated areas of Glenvale, Grove Terrace, and Brookfield by the N77.
"It's quite surprising that a pedestrian crossing hasn’t been installed here yet, after talking to some locals on a recent canvass it was highlighted to me that its not just a hazard for the local school children, but there are a number of residents who have bad mobility who have to cross the road on a daily basis to access the pharmacy," Mr Burke stated.
"It’s just yet another example of the reactive approach taken to issues in this area, which is quite disappointing. I have made the County Council aware of the issue and hope to receive feedback soon," he concluded.
