Kilkenny polling stations open at 7am
A total of 50 candidates will be on the ballot paper for the Local Elections in Kilkenny on Friday, June 7.
The 24 seats on Kilkenny County Council will be filled in four local electoral areas - Castlecomer, Piltown, Callan/Thomastown, and Kilkenny City.
Nominations closed at noon on Saturday, May 18 with the following 50 candidates declared.
Castlecomer Electoral Area
There are nine candidates for six seats in the Castlecomer LEA: John Brennan (FG), Daniel Burke (IND), Michael Delaney (FF), Stephen Delaney (IP), Pat Fitzpatrick (FF), Mary Hilda Cavanagh (FG), Denis Hynes (SF), Michael McCarthy (FF), Maurice Shortall (IND).
Piltown Electoral Area
There are 12 candidates for five seats in the Piltown LEA: Tomas Breathnach (LAB), Jenny Catt Slattery (FF), Richard Daly (IP), Damien Donoghue (FG) Pat Dunphy (FG), Fidelis Doherty (FG), Ger Frisby (FF), David Kane (SD), Benny McDonagh (GP), Natasha Newsome Drennan (SF), Maria Wall (FF), Michael Wemyss (SF).
Callan/Thomastown Electoral Area
There are nine candidates for six seats in the Piltown LEA: Peter Cleere (FF), Deirdre Cullen (FF), Stephanie Doheny (SF), Michael Doyle (FG), Kristina Doyle (GP), Orla Kelly (FG), David Kennedy (SF), Joe Lyons (FG), Joe Sheridan (FF).
Kilkenny City Electoral Area
There are 20 candidates for six seats in the Kilkenny City LEA: Toluwani Akaehomen (IND), Jony Aza (IND), Evan Barry (SF), Martin Brett (FG), Andrea Cleere (LAB), John Coonan (FF), Maria Dollard (GP), David Fitzgerald (FG), Liam Heffernan (Ind), Joe Malone (FF), Michael McGrath (IND), Andrew McGuinness (FF), Eugene McGuinness (IND), Aoife O’Brien (SF), Luke O’ Connor (IFP), Mark O’ Farrell (SF), Sean O’ hArgain (LAB), Martin O’ Neill (SD), Kevin Shore (PBP), Noel G Walsh (Ind).
