Kilkenny man part of trio set to run five marathons in 72 hours for charity

A Kilkeny native is part of an aspiring trio who are getting set to run all the way from Monaghan to Mayo (210km) as part of a special charity fundraiser.

Bob Grace from The Rower-Inistioge will join Ailbhe Quinn and Eimear Sammon in a run from Latton in County Monaghan to
Westport in County Mayo.

The distance of five marathons will see the three locals travel across the country on St Patrick's Weekend.

They will set off on Thursday, March 16 and hope to reach their destination on Sunday, March 19.

They are raising much-needed funds for Fowlers Syndrome and the Liver Unit, St. Vincent's University Hospital.

So far they have raised over €26,000 of their €50,000 target on GoFundMe.

Fowlers Syndrome is a little-known chronic bladder condition that has massively impacted the life of their friend Aoife.

The Liver Unit, St. Vincent's University Hospital, has been instrumental in caring for Ailbhe’s brother Daire before, during and after his liver transplant surgery due to chronic illness.

Both causes are very close to all three runners' hearts, and all money raised will be split evenly between both charities.

This week they have launched a virtual walk, jog, run two week challenge “Wild Run Challenge” which runs from February 20 – March 5.
