REVEALED: Sixty-four notices to quit issued to tenants in Kilkenny in Q4 of 2022

Sixty-four (64) notices to quit were issued to tenants in Kilkenny in the final three months of 2022, according to new figures published by the Residential Tenancies Board (RTB).

Despite the fact that the eviction ban commenced in October, landlords were still able to issue eviction notices, with the move out dates subsequently delayed until after the ban ended.

These evictions are now likely to occur over the next few weeks and months.

Nationally, 4,329 notices to quit were issued during October, November and December 2022.

In 58% of cases, the reason for landlords issuing the notice to quit was because the landlord intends to sell the property, while a further 16% said that the landlord or a family member intends on moving into the property.

It is important to note the number of notices received should not be interpreted as directly correlating to one landlord/tenant/tenancy.

For example, one notice could be received which relates to multiple tenants in one tenancy or separate notices could be received for each tenant.

Meanwhile, there are currently zero rental properties advertised in Kilkenny City on property website Daft.ie (at time of online publication), and only twelve across the entire county.
