Tens of thousands of euros worth of unclaimed prize bonds in Kilkenny

Data from the National Treasury Management Agency (NTMA) has revealed that €37,103 worth of prize bond prizes remain unclaimed by people in Kilkenny.

It is possible that many of these prizes cannot be claimed due to the person who held them being deceased.

The NTMA provided the Minister of Finance with the figures following a query from Deputy Seán Sherlock.

According the the NTMA, if someone does not claim their prize within 6 months of the draw date, the prize is included in their unclaimed prizes database.

The prize is then held, indefinitely until the holder comes forward to claim it.

How do prize bonds work?

Prize bonds are available in units of €6.25.

There is a minimum purchase of €25 (4 units) and a maximum of 250,000 (40,000 units).

Prize bonds are entered into a weekly draw with thousands of prizes ranging in value from €50 to €50,000, with a jackpot prize valued €250,000 awarded four times a year.

People who have prize bonds can check their prize bond numbers for unclaimed prizes here or you can call the NTMA on 0818 20 50 60 / 01 705 7200 for further details.
