Bathing ban lifted at popular swimming spot in Kilkenny

Ban on bathing lifted at popular swimming spot in Kilkenny

The Weir Pool in Thomastown

The temporary bathing prohibition notice at Thomastown Weir Pool has now been lifted.

The pool had been closed to the public since Friday following a test that showed high levels of bacteria in the water.

A follow up sample was taken on Monday and further water testing has since taken place.

The results of this sample detail a return to acceptable water quality and, following consultation with the HSE Public Health, the ban on bathing has been lifted.

Kilkenny County Council will continue to monitor lifeguarded swimming areas in the county throughout the bathing season.
