A proud Rower man elected as Cathaoirleach of Kilkenny County Council

A hardworking and decent community man was how colleagues described the newly-elected Cathaoirleach of Kilkenny County Council, Councillor Michael Doyle this afternoon.

Family and friends of the proud Rower man watched on from the public gallery at County Hall. Cllr John Coonan was elected Leas Cathaoirleach.

Mayor of Kilkenny, Cllr Joe Malone congratulated the new Cathaoirleach and said that he looked forward to them working together over the coming year. The Mayor also congratulated Cllr John Coonan and wished him well in his role.

Tributes were also paid to the outgoing Cathaoirleach, Cllr Pat Fitzpatrick for the his hard work on behalf of the people of Kilkenny over the past 12 months and to the Leas Cathaoirleach, Cllr Pat O'Neill.
