Cat that was found being eaten alive by maggots in Kilkenny gets new lease of life

A feral cat that was discovered being eaten alive by maggots recently in Kilkenny has been given a new lease of life thanks to a concerned local animal samaritan.

The feline was compassionately trapped (as it was feral) by Sandra at her home and brought to an emergency vet on Saturday July 1, where they removed maggots from the necrotic tissue on his tail.

Unfortunately, such was the damage, that the vet was forced to remove the cat's tail completely, and the bill landed at Sandra's door.

Sandra is well-known locally for her efforts in assisting to rehome local cats, and this case is just one of countless examples that has landed in her lap in recent years.

If you so wish, she has started a GoFundMe (click here) to help pay for some of the vet bills of stray cats that come into her care.

The cat recently paid a return visit back to her garden, and Sandra managed to snap the picture above, showing that the cat's wounds are healing up nicely.
