EDF Renewables Ireland are currently engaged in a pre-application consultation with An Bord Pleanála in relation to plans to develop eight wind turbines at Freneystown and adjacent townlands in County Kilkenny.
The idea of a pre-application consultation, according to An Bord Pleanála, 'is to try to make sure that an application for permission or approval is of a high standard'.
Pre-application consultations also allow An Bord Pleanála to advise an applicant if there are specific issues with the proposal and they may also advise the applicant on public consultation.
Pre-application consultations are completed when the applicant indicates to An Bord Pleanála that they wish to conclude the consultations. There is no time limit for the consultations to be completed.
It is likely that when this pre-application consultation has concluded that the applicant will formally lodge plans for development to the relevant planning body.
