Rise in the number of people accessing emergency accommodation in Kilkenny

Revealed: 46 adults accessing emergency accommodation in Kilkenny

The July 2023 Homeless Report has been published by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage.

The report details a total of 9,018 adults are accessing emergency accommodation across the country.

This report focus on the number of adults accessing local authority managed emergency accommodation during the week of July 24-30, 2023.

As expected, Dublin had the highest figure of homelessness with 73% of all adults accessing emergency accommodation doing so in the capital.

The county of Kilkenny reported 46 homeless in the last full week of July, three more than in June (43), and 11 more than in May (35).

There were 242 people accessing emergency accommodation in the last full week of July across the counties of Carlow, Kilkenny, Tipperary, Waterford and Wexford.

According to the report, the majority of people experiencing homelessness (54%) are aged between 25 - 40 years old.
