Religious group lodges plans for 'church, oratory and lecture facilities' in Kilkenny

Irish Friends of the Foyer of Charity have lodged plans for 'a part single storey/part two storey retreat centre' with Kilkenny County Council.

The centre, to be located in Johnstown (Rathlogan and Glashare), is envisaged to contain 'a church, an oratory, lecture facilities, kitchen and dining facilities, a library, a sitting room, recreational space for retreatants and en-suite bedroom accommodation'.

Also sought is permission for a boiler house, a campanile, an access road, carparking, a waste water treatment system, a sand polishing filter and associated site works.

A decision is due from the local authority by November 28, 2023.

Similar plans were lodged by the group back in 2018 and were granted conditional planning permission however that planning permission has since lapsed.
