Christmas appears to have come early to Thomastown with confirmation that €1,450,000 is to be made available for a new library in the town, according to Fine Gael TD, John Paul Phelan.
“I’ve worked closely with Minister Heather Humphreys TD, to get this funding over the line,” he said.
“This is a significant and timely boost for Thomastown, a town which has grown and grown over the years. The new facility will be centrally located in a vacant unit which is strategically located near the busy community hall in the town.
“This is a fantastic vote of confidence in the local library staff and the community which has supported the library over the years.
"Fine Gael is committed to supporting services in rural communities and this investment will contribute greatly to the regeneration of the town and the provision of services to so many different age groups, interest groups, associations and more.
"It’s all exceptionally good news for Thomastown and the surrounding hinterland and the services provided for the community for years to come.”
