Glas Civil Engineering Ltd commenced works on Lot 5A of the South-East greenway (c5.5km section from Ferrybank to Curraghmore) in November.

The anticipated contract duration for these works is 12 months.

This Wednesday (January 17) is the closing date for the receipt of tenders for a multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy team to complete all remaining phases of the greenway.

Legal contracts are also being prepared to finalise the acquisition of the lands along the abandoned rail corridor from Córas Iompair Éireann (CIÉ).

With regard to greenway wayfinding and animation, The Paul Hogarth Company are still assessing all of the information gleaned from public consultation events held back in November.

Later this month, it is expected that they will make a presentation to the elected members of the four municipal districts through which the greenway traverses.

This presentation will outline the emerging animation themes and the programme of works still to be undertaken.
