Numerous demonstrations were staged by the Irish Farmers Association (IFA) around the country on Thursday evening, in solidarity with EU farmers protesting about regulation, income pressure and bureaucracy.
Kilkenny was amongst the counties taking part with the local demonstration causing traffic disruptions in parts of Mullinavat, Danesfort and Paulstown as convoys of tractors took to the road.
At least 28 protests took place across the country in total, with every county participating except Carlow, due to Wednesday's fatal road crash.
Farmers have claimed that they are being subjected to onerous levels of bureaucracy and are calling on authorities to streamline the manner in which they must apply for and register agricultural payments.
Huge turnout of farmers and their familes here at JCT 7 M9 for @ifamedia demonstration. Farmers are very frustrated at the excessive regulations being foisted upon us. This is happening right across Europe. I have never seen farmers so angry. It needs to stop!!#enoughisenough pic.twitter.com/t5AnqASHDc
