Castlecomer Tidy Towns have a Clean Up Day for the town this Saturday at 3pm, meeting in front of the Creamery House. Gloves, pickers and bags will be provided. All help appreciated. Further info from 087-3154662.
The group recently had a positive meeting with Area Engineer, Philippe Beubry, highlighting among other issues the need for a designated person for the town. Since Jim Byrne retired a number of years ago, this position has not been filled and the town has suffered in terms of cleanliness and weed control.
Meanwhile, in Mullinavat, Kilkenny County Council will provide a traffic management crew from 9.30am on Friday, March 8 to enable local volunteers undertake a clean-up of litter southwards from Mullinavat along the R448 (old N9).
Volunteers must be over 15 years old and have high visibility vests and gloves. Litter pickers and bags will be provided.
The annual spring clean around Mullinavat and Bigwood and the approach roads will be held from 9.30am on Saturday, March 9. All offers of assistance welcome. Further info from Patricia Ryan, tel 087-2336261.
